Update

The Cub has, with great reluctance, headed off to a school residential trip. The Panda and I are sitting here, confused by the quiet :-D
It does mean I get a moment to post though, so here I am.

The current fun event was swapping out the hard drive on the Panda's computer for a solid state number for Mother's Day, last Sunday. MY CRIKEY, was that old drive a bottleneck. Cloning 300-some Megs over USB 2.0 at 11-12 MB/s was faintly painful, but that's what 'overnight' is for.
I also slipped in double the RAM, as there was a touch of cash left in the tech budget.
So far, so good!

Now to focus on getting MINE back into the land of the living – I stopped recovery attempts at Christmas when I was wiped out with the mid-winter lurgie and FORGOT all about the idea. Suddenly it's three quarters the way through March; February took ages to pass and March is staring down the back of April's neck now. Anyway. I could just trash my laptop and reinstall, but it's the principle of the thing, you know?
Maybe, while I'm in a box-opening mood, I should just rip the drive out, copy the important stuff up to the cloud and start over. Where's my rubber mallet? :-D

The voice in my head is only playback

I was just reading a post when the Panda spoke to me.

Now. I wear an earpiece a LOT. I listen to podcasts, books on Audible (fantastic Christmas present!) and maaaybe music. Because two voices appearing in my brain at once is confusing, I habitually reach up and double-tap the earpiece to pause playback.

The Panda spoke and I reached up to cancel the information feeding into my brain and... realised that the 'voice' I was trying to mute was coming in through my eyes.
