Nov. 21st, 2024 09:51 pmI drove into our road a week or two back to the sight of what looked like a very poorly dog just leaning into a hedge; it was quite a strange dog: it was very fluffy, rather round in the body and its ears looked... wrong.
Then things rearranged themselves.
The strangely haired dog leaning woozily up against the hedge was staring at the pavement and said dog was, in fact, a cat with its fur on end trying to hide in the greenery and doing the cat equivalent of shouting "aaaaagh!!! TAKE COVER!! There's a small hedgehog crossing the pavement!!!'
I was tempted to grab a photograph except that there were two other cars pulling in behind me and, small residential road or not, the police can get rather intense if they see you holding a mobile phone with the keys in your car let alone having the engine on. Were there any police? Well who can say? But there are a lot of dash cams about these days and one can send off footage to the police of people doing dumb things with an expectation that they will follow up anything they deem naughty – and people you've been keeping waiting for no readily apparent reason have a reason to be petty.
