Apr. 10th, 2022 10:53 pmI saw this:

and, wanting a bit of a change, made this:

While the base geometry was quick, the research into gas mantles, authentic door outlines and wood grains, architraves, door knobs, wallpaper (and whether to bother adding a flocking effect or to texture it like material, as was used sometimes) floorboards and Axminster carpet patterns took... mmmm a while longer. All right, the rest of the weekend.
I extracted the face from the sideboard and applied it as a normal map to give the thing a feeling of three dimensions.
"That's good," said an internet mate. "Who's the face?"
Google Image Search decided that the face in the sideboard could be the image of the spirit of the river Lee in south-west Ireland, as seen on their 1963-1977 issue pound note

I took out the original face and fudged 'Lee', above, into the woodwork instead.
It took about 15 minutes.
"That's IMPRESSIVE!" Said the friend. Not the research, the textures or the lighting, but that I could do a quick copy and put a different face on the cupboard :D :D :D
Well.
When you've got a thing, you might as well look at it from another angle, so in went a jokey picture of The Cub's favourite bear, Weston :-D
